Massage Therapy

Hello and welcome!

Victoria Soo, born and raised in Southern California, graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance.  She worked in Sales, and was a Loan Processor for a number of years before finding her passion for helping others heal and feel better.  She earned her California Massage Therapist Certification (CMT #56400)  in May 2014.  Victoria completed the Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP) program at Healing Hands School of Holistic Health in Laguna Hills, CA in November 2014.  In March 2015, Victoria attended two workshops to further add to her skills in helping people heal.  She earned RockTape's RockDoc designation by completing the Fascial Movement Taping (FMT) Basic workshop, as well as a Contemporary Cupping Therapist certification from the International Cupping Therapy Association.  In 2016, Victoria attended Erik Dalton's Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy (for neck, shoulders, low back, hips & legs) and Dr. Perry Nickleston's Primal Movement Chains. In 2017, Victoria attended MyoDetox's week long workshop in Toronto, Canada in which she learned about myofascial release protocols to unwind tilts, shifts, and rotation in the body.  Victoria also took on courses one through three to learn how to use BioEnergy Patches to treat pain and inflammation.

"My approach to bodywork is one of restoring balance. Dysfunction in the body is caused by imbalance, whether it be from injury or poor habits, and restoring balance will lead to better physical, mental and emotional well-being.  I like to educate my clients about their bodies, making them more aware of the muscular dysfunction and how their body is compensating for the dysfunction.  Muscular dysfunctions that may seem like minor inconveniences may lead to major muscular dysfunction and/or pain in the future. My goal is to find the source of the pain and heal it, and then help your body unwind the muscular dysfunction and/or the compensating movement(s), so that you are moving well and pain free again.  Chasing pain doesn't heal you, it may give you temporary relief, but finding the source of the pain will free you from that pain."

No stranger to injury, Victoria sustained a dislocated left shoulder from a motorcycle accident, and a misaligned knee joint from hitting her leg on the motorcycle gas tank and ground.  She paid out-of-pocket and spent over a year in physical therapy because she was not satisfied with the limited range-of-motion that sidelined her from running and weight lifting.  Victoria is positive that if she had a massage therapist like her working on her injuries, she would not have needed to spend over a year in physical therapy.  For this reason, Victoria gives more than 100% to every client she works on to get them back in the game as quickly as she can.

Victoria has worked in the spa environment, with physical therapists, chiropractors and acupuncturists.  She has worked on a variety of pain syndromes and post-surgical rehabilitation including - chronic low back pain, frozen shoulder, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, post-MCL repair, post-rotator cuff repair, IT band syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, and many others, with much success.

Specialties are Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Myofascial Release Therapy, Sports Massage, PNF Stretching, Swedish/Circulatory Massage, Cupping Therapy (Myofascial Decompression),  Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (also known as Graston Technique) and Kinesiotaping.

Victoria believes in the power of knowledge, and her commitment to learning has her eye open to learning something new every year.  In 2018, she enrolled in the Zone Technique course. She will be implementing this new technique in her office, which may possibly shorten session from 60 or 90 minutes to under 30 minutes.  Victoria has also signed up for Functional Movement Screen Level 1 online course, which she anticipates completing in early January 2019.  What's been on her radar lately?  Iridiology and sclerology.  The eyes tell a lot about our health.
